Literary Locations #1. Bookstore YONG Opened on May 8th in 2018, Bookstore YONG is a small used bookstore located in a neighborhood, not very close to the center of Bucheon. However, Yong is not an ordinary bookstore but a very special one that shines through! It serves as a pleasant literary community. Small scale writing and transcribing your favorite book meetings are held every week led by the owner, Yong. Occasionally, it hosts workshops on various topics such as history, religion, music and publishing a book as well as fun events like flee markets welcoming all who would like to join. On special occasions, the bookstore turns into an art gallery, displaying unique drawings and paintings . What is special about this bookstore is its embrace of people; people are connected, and their potentials are realized through the affectionate gaze of the owner. People from different walks of life gather through love of books. A senior lady in her late seventy who often says, “the presence of the bookstore Yong itself makes me happy”, holds dear Wednesday transcribing your favorite book meeting. Also, bookmarks and post cards drawn by a participant of a writing meeting (whose dream is to be a travel writer), are introduced as Yong Goods. Yong Bookstore creatively seeks out opportunities to do something fun together with other neighboring stores in the community. In this regard, the owner of the Cafe Wunder Coffee Bar visited the Yong and opened a coffee bar, offering a personal and interesting conversation about coffee and life at one Autumn night last year. Last but not least, Bucheon City of Literature’s 2019 edition of World Poetry Day was celebrated in collaboration with the Bookstore Yong as well! Looking forward to what Bookstore Yong has in store this year! For more information visit https://www.facebook.com/yongbooks/

We passionately believe in the power of reading to improve our understanding of others and make changes in our own lives. Remember UNESCO Cities of Literature's #17Booksfor17SDGs Campaign on social media, which was initiated by Iowa City, and other 11 cities participated in. World Economic Forum took notice of some of the UNESCO Cities of Literature' recommended reading list on 17 Sustainable Development Goals designated by the United nations. A book on goals 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 11, and 14 was mentioned, respectively. https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/02/unesco-cities-of-literature-recommended-books-sustainable-development-goals/?fbclid=IwAR0acM0oUHfZn1AI-mT05I6fYjhoh_ECipevw_Z5HOO27blOIs0RIh_gsac
