“The UNESCO Creative Cities Network is first and foremost a space for collaboration and experimentation to invent the city of tomorrow."
Ernesto Otto R., Assistant Director-General for Culture of UNESCO
Today, the Network comprises 295 cities from 93 countries, working together towards common objectives : making creativity a driver for sustainable urban development. By increasing their cultural offerings and supporting job creation, the Network fosters vibrant cultural sectors based on social diversity and cohesion, intercultural dialogue, and citizen’s well-being.
Here’s the report that Bucheon reflects on the specific activity initiated by the Bucheon UNESCO City of Literature Office between in 2017 and 2020 after the designation. This report documents Bucheon’s efforts over the past four years as a proud Creative City of Literature, and our future plans, but with the limits of report size only provides an overview of each outlined activity.
We look forward to continue participating in the network: placing creativity and cultural industries at the core of development plans at the local level, actively cooperating at the international level, strengthening the value chain of local creative economies, sharing knowledge and learning from others, as well as building stronger partnerships with this incredible circle of friends from around the world.
