The XIII Annual Conference of the UNESCO Creative Cities is held in Fabriano, Italy from 10 June to 15 June in 2019. Fabriano, a UNESCO Creative City of crafts and folk art invites delegates from 180 cities in 72 countries to the city under the theme “Ideal City.” The theme of 2019 edition of the conference sends a clear message on the importance of creativity as the resource for building the cities of the future and encourages participating members to reflect on the features of an ideal city.
Plenary sessions, cluster meetings, creative fields workshops, transversal thematic workshops, the Mayors’ forum, and dedicated cultural and artistic programs are in store for member cities who will gather together for the annual conference.
The UCCN Annual Conference serves as an important platform for member cities to share their views, initiatives, measures geared toward inclusive, creative, and sustainable cities. By exchanging respective experiences and interacting on shared concerns, the UCCN cities highlight the contribution of culture to the United nation’s Global Agenda 2030 for sustainable development.
Bucheon was named as a UNESCO Creative City of Literature in 2017. 2019 will mark the second year of its participation in the event, followed by the 2018 UCCN Annual Meeting which was held in Krakow (Creative City of Literature) and Katowice (Creative City of Music), Poland.
