The City of Bucheon in cooperation with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO hosted “2019 UNESCO Creative Cities Network Workshop” on 17 October.
The workshop was attended by representatives of six of the 8 Korean member cities : Bucheon(Literature), Busan(Film), Daegu(Music), Gwangju(Media Art), Jeonju(Gastronomy), and Tongyeong(Music) and six applicant cities.
The representatives of the Korean UNESCO Creative cities and applicant cities along with experts in the field of culture took part in the session of UNESCO Cities Activities, and the discussion with the topic of “ how to use UNESCO Brand and cooperate between and among the cities at the domestic level.” For this year’s edition of the workshop, the special session was arranged for the applicant cities to provide assistance so that they could improve their vision and strategy in their preparation for the UCCN application.
The UNESCO Creative Cities network workshop has been held for 5 years, serving as a comprehensive platform to share success stories of sustainable urban development among the Korean UNESCO Creative Cities and to discuss how to make use of the Network with the presence of those who are specialized in the culture and urban development. This kind of national sub-network also offers an opportunity to consolidate working relationships among the Korea cities and enable them to extend their perspectives and coordinate their activities.
